Stop complaining and make a request!
Your brain doesn’t understand ‘No’.
Complaining is stating what you don’t want. Think “I don’t want to be single”, and what is your first thought? Being single of course. Think “I don’t like being poor” and what are your thoughts about? Images of being poor, broke and unhappy. Generally whatever we focus on is what we end up creating.
Instead of complaining, make a request for what you do want. I want a perfect partner and what comes to your mind? You got it, images of the partner you have always dreamed about. Ask for abundance in your life and what do you see? Wealth, vacations and all the things you do want. This simple shift is huge for so many of my clients. Humans in general spend much of their day-to-day existence focusing on what they don’t want. In fact the behavior has a name: the negativity bias. It’s a survival mechanism whereby we make the worst of a given situation and every stick on the ground becomes a snake and every movement in the shadows becomes a saber-toothed tiger. In a dangerous, predator-filled world the negativity bias works great. However in today’s world there are few saber-toothed tigers lurking in the shadows or cobras on the ground in front of us that we need to watch out for. Instead, the negativity bias fills our mind with what we don’t want. I personally have had friend that we terrified of cancer and cancer is exactly what happened to them. If we have angry thoughts we get more angry, fearful thoughts make us more fearful, our brain doesn’t understand the concept of: I don’t want to be angry or I don’t want to be afraid. We are powerful creatures, what we hold in our mind and in our thoughts is what we create in the world around us.
When we have the discipline to think about what we do want, when we focus on the desired outcome instead of the problem, we are much more likely to end up filling our life with what we want instead of what we don’t want.
